The WBNK is provided with scientific and organisational support by a secretariat. In its professional work, the secretariat is subject only to the instructions of the Advisory Board. The staff of the secretariat are under the administrative supervision of the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation, which respects the independence of the Advisory Board in exercising this supervisory function.
